Intercultural Communication in Climate Change Crisis Conversations

Effective cross-cultural communication, especially in response to international crises like global warming, is no easy feat. Ahead of COP26 in Glasgow (2021), academics have argued that our failure to reach adequate international solutions to climate change change is directly attributed to our lack of intercultural understanding. What exactly are the barriers we may face in intercultural exchanges, and how can we navigate these challenges to come to productive solutions?

The latest publication of Catrin Snaith addresses, among others, these questions. Furthermore, she explores 2 hypothetical cases of cultural misunderstanding and sketches how climate change (and its security implications) can be solved more effectively, by being more cultural competent!
